The Bolgatanga East District in its 3rd assembly inaugurated 24 assembly members and 68 unit committee members in colorful ceremony. Out of the 24 assembly members, 16 are elected and 8 are government appointees.
In a brief welcoming address, Mr. Michael Awini, District Coordinating Director congratulated and called for the newly elected assembly member, government appointed members and unit committee members to be committed and devoted to the work of the assembly. He added that their commitment to work for the interest of their people will prove to them that they are capable of the handling the task given to them.
Mr. Michael Awini, expressed his gratitude to all former assembly members and their unit committee members for their commitment and devotion during their term in office. “Your tireless efforts have made a lasting impact on the district and your legacy will continue to inspire us all up for your serve, amplify the true spirit of public service to you people,” he stated.
Mr. Herbert Krapa, Deputy Energy Minister, who represented the President of the Republic of Ghana and read the presidential inaugural address congratulated all elected members, and unit committee members for their success in the District Level Elections (DLEs).
He stated that “As assembly members, it is your mandate to deliberate, plan, coordinate, mobilise resources and make decisions including making bye laws to ensure emancipation of your district towards the Ghana we all want”. He further urged all to be part of assemblies to change the status quo and deepen local government for the people to have access to public services closer to them in fulfillment of the vision of the decentralization process.
District Magistrate Judge, Mawukeonya Nutekpor led all elected, appointed and unit committee member to swear the oath office.
