Barring any unforeseen circumstances, construction work on Bolgatanga East’s share of government’s Agenda 111 would be completed as scheduled; 18 months after construction begins. This is according to the District Chief Executive for the Area, David Amoah. He said this when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.
Mr. Amoah indicated that the two contractors; the main contractor and a sub-contractor, have been working earnestly to get the facility in shape. He said the initial land-related issues have been peacefully resolved paving way for the construction to begin.
“Concrete work, block work has started earnestly. When you go [to the site now] you will see buildings coming up all over. Last year, the site was cleared and the mobilisation to the site by the contractor began. It is the beginning of this year that they started excavating and construction. The timeline still remains. The contractor has assured us that the facility would be completed within the deadline”.
“The initial challenge was how much land they wanted and the siting of the buildings. When they cleared the site and put the building plan on the land, it [the building] went out of the land. We had to engage the landlords, and they agreed for it to be extended. That was the only challenge. Since that was done, we have not had any other challenges,” he said.
He said Assembly officials had visited the site of the facility with the landlords, the chiefs and opinions leaders in the area.
Mr. Amoah said the construction of the facility would mean improved healthcare for people resident in the Bolga East Area.
