Following the receipt of the Letter on the nomination of the District Chief Executives for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the Country Ref. No. OUERCC/MLGDRD/VOL.9/21/65 from the Regional Coordinating Council, the Bolgatanga East District Assembly accordingly summoned a Special Meeting of the General Assembly to confirm His Excellency the President’s Nominee Mr. David Akolgo Amoah.
A Special Meeting of the Bolgatanga East District Assembly was summoned for Thursday 30th September, 2021 for the purpose of transacting the business of confirming the President’s Nominee for the position for District Chief Executive.
In all, Twenty-two Hon. Assembly Members comprising Fifteen (15) elected Assembly Members and Seven (7) Government Appointees were present at the Special Meeting.
The Special Guest of honour was the Hon. Regional Minister of the Upper East Region, the Chief Director Regional Coordinating Council, the Hon. Presiding Member for the Bolgatanga East District Assembly who presided over the Special Meeting, the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive of Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly Hon. Rex Asanga. Also in attendance were Presiding Member for the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Party Elders from the Region, Security Heads and Traditional Authorities, Regional Chairman for NPP, NPP Executives of Bolgatanga East, Assembly Members, Heads of Department, Media and the General Public.

Other dignitaries present were; Traditional Authorities made up of the Zuarungu Paramount Chief’s representative and some Divisional Chiefs from the Zuarungu Traditional Area, the Divisional Chiefs of Dulugu, Yarigabisi, Dachio and Representative from Kumbosigo and Gambibgo, former Presiding Member of the Bolgatanga East District Assembly, New Patriotic Party Elders, and Representative from the NDPC-Mr. Robert Ajene, Regional Chairman of NPP, Lawyer Anthony Anamoo and other Regional Executive Members, Reps of other political parties.
The Electoral Commission represented by the District Electoral Officer for the Bolgatanga East District conducted the elections following due process.
At the end of the ballot and counting all Twenty-two (22) Assembly Members unanimously voted for the President’s Nominee Mr. David Akolgo Amoah thereby confirming him automatically for the position of District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East District Assembly. He polled 100% of the votes as per the attached Declaration of Result Sheets from the Electoral Commission.

After the confirmation, His Worship of the Magistrate Court of Bolgatanga administered the Official Oath and Oath of Secrecy to the confirmed District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East District Assembly accordingly as per the attached photocopies of Oaths administered.
In his acceptance speech, the Hon. District Chief Executive for the Bolgatanga East District Assembly Hon. David Akolgo Amoah expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana for the confidence reposed in him and the honour done by his nomination. He equally extended similar gratitude to Hon. Assembly Members who overwhelmingly endorsed His Excellency the President’s justification for nominating him by the confirmation.
He pledged to adopt an open door policy in the administration of the District but will be mindful of all rules and regulations governing performance of his duties. As a team player he called for unity, cooperation and understanding of all to support the infant District to grow.
Having seen development as a shared responsibility, he called on the Hon. Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Government, Donor Agencies, NGOs, the Private Sector, Traditional Authorities and the people of the District to support the infant District to meet the development needs of the people. He called on all to be more than willing to contribute their quota to the cause of the development of the District irrespective of one’s political leaning.
